PROGRAMS

 

NEW! GROUP EXERCISE TRIATHLON:

A brand new program is coming to Harvard Recreation this April!

Objective: Complete 24 checkpoints (classes), across 3 group exercise categories in 6 weeks to finish the race.  This is an individual event; no team required!

•    Everyone who finishes will receive a T-shirt. 

•    The top 5 finishers (those who complete the highest number of classes) will win an additional prize.

Between the dates of April 4th and May 15th, 2011, attend as many group exercise classes in 3 categories as you can.  Minimum of 24 classes, with a designated number in each category, are required to finish the race.  Your designated number of classes will be broken into 4 principal requirements plus electives to reach the total required number.

SAVE THE DATE: A ZUMBA RED PARTY IS COMING TO THE MAC ON FRIDAY, APRIL 8TH!

Ditch the workout and join the party on Friday, April 8th at ZUMBA Red Party! Help support the American Heart Association and their fight against heart disease in women. The proceeds raised in ticket sales will go to the American Heart Association.  http://www.goredforwomen.org/

Join in the fun and learn dance moves set to a Latin rhythm and a few of our favorite artists including Michael Jackson, Shakira & MORE! As a special bonus 5 instructors will teach this class and showcase new material! This party that is suitable for all fitness levels! Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to shake it!

SPECIALTY CLASSES:

Spring 2011 Specialty classes will run April 3rd-30th. On-time registration is LIVE on our website until Wednesday 3/31. Spaces are limited, so register early! Classes will run for 4 weeks beginning the week of April 3rd. We are offering exciting and education programs including Couch to 5K, Glee Club, Belly Dance, Hip Hop, Meditation, Ballet, Yin Yoga, Ballroom Dance, Nia & MORE! MAC SWIM LESSONS:

We are now taking requests for Adult Private, Buddy (2 adults) and semi-private (3-6 adults) lessons. Please submit a Swim Lessons Request form and we will contact you to schedule your lesson. All tutorials will be in the Hemenway weight room. Personal Trainer Mike Doyle will lead each clinic.

Fee: $8.00 per clinic for facility members

Register at the front desk of Hemenway. Payment is required upon registering. Advanced registration is required.

BASIC STRENGTH TRAINING ORIENTATIONS:

Looking for an efficient workout? Want to learn how to use the machines safely and properly? Register for a Strength Training Orientation at the MAC or Hemenway. Strength Training orientations are 45-minute sessions, during which members are led through a row of circuit machines by a certified personal trainer. During the Basic STO, members will be provided with a list of the circuit machines along with information on technique, moderation, progression, and machine adjustments. Please note that these are not customized personal training sessions.  Members will not be shown how to use dumbbells or cable machines, and will not be exercising during the STO.

    * Duration: 45 Minutes

    * Cost: $5/ participant (fee MUST be collected at the respective gym’s front desk at the time of sign up; all participants are required to have  gym memberships)

    * Participants: 3 members are the minimum need to run an STO, and there is a limit of 10 spaces available

    * Additional info: STOs will be cancelled if there are not at least 3 participants registered. Members will be reimbursed for STO cancellations or can sign up for the next STO for no additional charge. Please note that these are not customized personal training sessions. We are currently accepting Personal Training Request Forms at the front desk or submit online.
