Launch of Pandektis Database by the National Hellenic Research
Foundation (NHRF).
http://pandektis.ekt.gr/dspace/
Pandektis is a brand new electronic database useful to all those
interested in Greek history and culture. It is the product of digitization
of some very important hard-copy research collections kept at the three
historical Institutes of the Athens-based NHRF, the Institute of
Neohellenic Research, the Institute of Byzantine Research and the
Institute of Greek and Roman Antiquity. Pandektis is thus comprised of
branches in the guise of separate sub-databases covering a wide spectrum
of subjects and periods - albeit emphasis, in quantative terms, has been
laid on Neohellenic research . The Institute of Neohellenic Research has
contributed valuable material for the creation of nine sub-databases while
the Institute of Byzantine Research and the Institute of Greek and Roman
Antiquity one each.
Though Pandektis can be accessed only in Greek for the moment, it remains
a database of unique content in its kind that can be thoroughly and freely
searched through the Web so that it can have the widest diffusion possible
to the benefit of the scholarly community but also of interested
laypeople.
Best regards and wishes for the New Year

Colleagues,
A reader is interested in the serial _Monasteriologia_ published in Athens
apparently beginning in 1980. We are not sure whether it was a regular
periodical or an irregular continuation-type serial. There is actually a
brief LC catalog record for it, LCCN 89650441, but no issues are to be
found under the call number (BX385.G8M66), indicating either that it
ceased after just a few issues or is misshelved or lost at LC.
We would be grateful for any information on this serial, particularly how
much of it actually was published, by whom, and if possible sample table
of contents pages (which can be faxed to me at 1 202 707 2224 or emailed
as attachments).
Thanks, and Happy New Year to all,
Harry Leich
