Dear colleagues,
Rhea Lesage and I had a number of communications with Library of
Congress staff last week. To sum up where things stand now:
* The comment period has been extended to June 2010.
* Barbara Tillett, Chief, Policy and Standards Division at
the Library of Congress, would like to resolve as much as possible by
e-mail with interested parties.
* Failing that, she is in favor of discussing possible
solutions during the ALA/ALCTS/CCS/CC:DA committee meeting on Saturday
(6/26) and/or Monday (6/28) morning, if we decide a meeting is necessary
(ALA annual is in Washington, DC this June).
* She shared with us ALA/ALCTS/CCS/CC:DA's decision based on
the task-force recommendations. Briefly: to eliminate all diacritics for
post-1454 modern-Greek including rough breathing but only if LC works
with large collections to convert records and if resources are available
to make conversion possible.
* Meanwhile, LC catalogers were instructed on March 31 to
resume work with the older tables, and they are tracking all records
created since Dec 2009 in case changes must be made.
I will forward a few of the relevant e-mails to the list shortly.

ROMIOSYNI-L
Βλ. σχετικό κείμενο στο (http://ancientworldbloggers.blogspot.com/2010/03/petition-re-changes-in-cl-…).

A colleague has this rather special book for sale ...
June Samaras - Kalamos Books
======================
WILLIAMS, Hugh William. SELECT VIEWS IN GREECE. London: Longman, 1829.
First Edition. Folio (11-1/2" x 15-3/4") bound in full gilt red morocco.
Proof copy on large paper with some of the plates before letters. The 64
steel-engraved plates after Williams are on India paper, mounted. Both
half titles present as is the list of plates. Blackmer 1811, Blackmer
Sale 1096. Beautifully bound in full red morocco by John Wright with
multiple gilt-ruled borders featuring an elaborate vase design with an
alternating floral design in the interior, gilt dentelles, all edges
gilt. The spine has five raised bands with a complex floral gilt design
on five panels and a leather label with gilt lettering on another. Very
scarce in this state, apparently one of only 12 folio proof copies
published. There is minor rubbing to the spine edges and corners, a
little heavier at the upper rear. The front panel has two not very
terrible scratches. A few places on both pastedowns have the marbled
paper stripped indicating the removal of something large taped there.
The contents are generally quite clean. Some spotting mainly to the
verso and margins of the plates, rarely near the images. A few text
leaves are quite darkened. Near Fine copy, beautifully bound.
