Thanks Chuck!
Please use the simpler URL
http://www.cohsl.net/ which I'm funding in order
for you not to have to use the cumbersome address on my server space.
While at the site, in addition to checking out Panos's list, please view the
list of digital resources under the link "Digital Projects." It contains
many of the resources on that list, though not all. You might also want to
check out Karen's photo album from the Athens meeting on the "About CoHSL"
page at the end of the text.

Thanks to Panos for his excellent list. now available at
http://www.princeton.edu/~rlindau/Panos%20Georgiou.xls with a link from the
website at
http://www.princeton.edu/~rlindau/CoHSL.htm
Not in that list, but no doubt of interest to many is Pergamos
(
http://pergamos.lib.uoa.gr/dl/index) "... an integrated Digital Library
System that offers a uniform platform for managing, documenting, preserving
and publishing heterogeneous digital collections. It has been developed by
the Libraries Computer Center team of the University of Athens. Currently,
Pergamos hosts the digital collection of the Historical Archive of the
University of Athens, while four additional collections are under
development (Folklore Collection, Papyri Collection, Theatrical Collection
and Medical Images Collection). By the end of 2007, Pergamos will be hosting
11 collections of the University of Athens."
It is built on FEDORA

Subject: [Cohsl-list] Greek Resources on the Web
Dear all goodmorning and my best wishes for a happy 2007.
Rhea's message had woke me up concerning my "obligation" coming out from
Gennadious meeting on December, on puting together all greek inititatives on
providing greek digital content on web or elsewhere.
As a matter of fact I had already done the most of the job a couple of weeks
ago but as usually I postponed posting it to the list.
Well now here it is my initial list with all resources I could find.
Resources are presented in an excel table with usefull data (url, owner,
type, format, access info etc).
As I said above this must be considered only as a first step towards a full
inventory of all greek digital initiatives. As it came out of the Genadious
meeting we should create a registry for that reason that it would be also
usefull to us here in Greece to avoid doing the same job more than once. In
that sense my next step consists of the following:
- gather more data about new projects coming out this next period (and there
will be a lot as major digitization projects funded by the Information
Society Program will be presented). If anyone knows a project I haven't
included in the list just name it!
- concerning collections and databases, to gather data about the titles that
are digitized and/or indexed (I already have the most of this data, but
somehow I have to orginize it... see next point). Anyway I can always just
put in an excel table and later on we can import all this data into a nice
database system.
- to work on the stuctrure of such a registry: what information do we need
to know for every resource and to what level. Any ideas and feedback will be
wellcome. Of course this will take some time and a lot of cooperation and
understanding between us. We'll see.
I hope all these will be usefull to somebody.
I am waiting for your feedback
Sincerely
Panos Georgiou
