Self-published local histories often fall below the radar of academic
libraries and thus scholars in their research. Below are three examples
I'd like to point out because I think it's critical that such works find
their way into more library collections such as those many of us
represent. The three titles below deal with the Greek-American community
of Lowell, MA.
1. Greek immigrants at work: "A Lowell Odyssey" /
Author: Karas, Nicholas V.
Publication: Lowell, Mass.: Meteora Press, 1986
ISBN: 0961334711
$15.00
2. The Greek Triangle of the Acre: then and now /
Author: Karas, Nicholas V.
Publication: Lowell, Mass.: Meteora Press, 1984
ISBN: 09611334703
Unavailable
3. Greek immigrant chronicles: the alpha and omega /
Author: Karas, Nicholas V.
Publication: Lowell, Mass.: Meteora Press, 1989
ISBN: 096133472X
$12.00
Title #1 is being revised and will be released in the next month or two,
according to the author; #2 is unfortunately sold out, but perhaps with
the author's permission can be reprinted if there are no plans to revise
it; #3 is planned for revision, but not for some time.
