Apologies for cross-posting.
Leiden University Library's Special Collections department is conducting
preparatory research for the implementation of "Digitization on demand".
Through such a service, customers can use their PC to request
digitization of an item, to be supplied digitally (e.g. in a web
interface or via e-mail), usually for a fee. An example of such a
service is the National Library of Australia's CopiesDirect service
(accessible through
http://www.nla.gov.au/copiesdirect).
For this research project, I am interested in your experience with
digitization on demand. Is your institution offering digitization on
demand (of archives, special collections and/or general collections), or
are you considering offering this service? If not, has it been
considered and what are the arguments not to develop this service?
I am interested in your experience and would appreciate any information
you can supply. My e-mail address is a.wagenaar(a)library.leidenuniv.nl. I
can be reached by phone at +31 (0)71 5272700 every Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Kind regards,
Abram Wagenaar
