I know that frequently Greek publications used to contain author
"signatures" (either original or rubber stamped ) on the verso of title
pages to verify authenticity.
I have this 1948 vintage book by Tselementes
*Tselementes, Nikolaos K .[1878-1958]. Odegos Mageirikes. *
Athens: Oikos Mich. I Saliverou, 1948. 9th Greek Ed.. Hardcover. . Near
Fine / No Jacket. Exceptionally clean and neat vintage copy of this classic
Geek cookbook.. 472p.illus.index. Very large, heavy volume in exceptionally
neat and clean decorative blue cloth covers. It seems to have been well
protected in the past since there are still the remains of small yellow
tape marks on the verso of title page and inside the rear cover. Name of
previous owner, else fine .
On the dedication page there is what looks like his signature.
It does NOT look life a rubber stamp.
My questions....
1] Does any one have a signed Tselementes example to compare this with?
2] Did he "actually" sign his books himself in a general way?
3] Did the publisher reproduce this signature during the printing process?
I tried tracking this edition down in WorldCat, so far without success, nor
could I access access the Hathi Trust electronic version
[The catalogue entries for Tselementes are quite messy at best!]
Any information to help clarify this will be most welcome
