The lower fee for registration expires on June 30 for the IFLA Satellite
meeting “New Techniques for Old Documents- Scientific examination methods
in the service of preservation and book history” Uppsala, Sweden, August
16-18.
This conference covers many aspects of analyzing library collections,
ranging from DNA-analysis to current and future prospects of OCR-reading of
texts. Librarians, book historians and conservators should take this
opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the information that can be drawn
out of documents ranging from archaeological findings and war-damaged
manuscripts to more ordinary library collections.
The general theme is divided into these five sessions:
* DNA-analysis
* Research in paper conservation
* Pigment analysis
* Dating of documents
* Reading texts -decipherment and image analysis
