Hello, Harry and Kostas and everyone:
I can confirm that Widener Library subscribes to Kathemerini through Oionos Bookservices
from Greece and have not had problems since we pay in advance as Kostas indicates. We are
retaining the print copies and sending them to storage since we are not aware of the
availability of current microfilms. On my desiderata list for Modern Greek is an ability
to purchase an institutional e-subscription to the major Greek newspapers, which I
understand is not available at this time.
All best wishes for the new year,
Rhea

Dear Mr Leich,
I read your message through the listserv, and I may answer that in response to your order
with Oionos more than a year ago, we issued a pro-forma invoice to the LC, but we did not
receive any payment, nor an answer instructing us otherwise. All newspapers demand payment
upfront, so we can only deal with subscriptions only on pro-forma. In fact we have
collected the paper for some months; I understand that we may reach an understanding when
meeting with Mrs Nezar on Wednesday. Widener receives the paper through Oionos.
Best Regards, Kostas

Dear colleagues,
I am trying to ascertain which American libraries have paper subscriptions to the Athens
newspaper Καθημερινή and who your suppliers are. I would also be interested in knowing
whether anybody purchases commercially-available microfilm of this newspaper and again who
the vendor is.
LC has some years of the paper filmed at the British Library but apparently nothing
current.
Thanks for any information you can provide!
Happy New Year to all,
Harry
