Hi!
I don’t have a full-fledged Modern Greek libguide, but it’s one of the many countries for
which I have some links. See Greece under
http://guides.lib.uchicago.edu/c.php?g=297241&p=1991931
I have hopes of expanding it, but never seem to have the time to devote to any of “my”
countries.
Best,
June Farris

Subject: [Cohsl-list] Libguides (and Resources) for Modern Greek Studies -- information
requested
Dear Members of Co-HSL,
Would you please -- especially if you are responsible for the Modern Greek Studies or
Hellenic Studies collection(s) in a large library (or a program of teaching in these
fields at a University) -- respond to me with information (and links) on the online
availability of a related Libguide (or other similar portal to useful resources) on your
Library's (or your Modern Greek Studies program's) site?
I'm aware of the handy "Research Collections" webpage (under
"Resources") of the MGSA (
http://www.mgsa.org/Resources/libraries.html), but
would appreciate receiving an update from you, even if you or your institution had
originally submitted information for posting on that page (not all those links remain
active today).
I think it would be helpful for us to gather such information in one place, and suggest
that we compile a shared list -- the sooner the better! -- of print versions and URLs
where such Libguides for Modern Greek (or Hellenic) Studies are located, as a basic
introduction to resources available in the discipline. A target audience: undergraduates,
graduate students, and other interested readers seeking a guided entry to the best library
(and study) resources in Modern Greek Studies.
I suppose that I am primarily thinking of Libguides (and related guides to resources) that
are located at libraries and educational programs in English-speaking countries and
institutions, but it seems good to keep a broader perspective as well on the world
beyond.
I hope to hear from you and will gladly share the information received with all those who
may be interested. A student of mine is available to make a compilation, and would do it
promptly, as a project during a current workshop. Please respond soon!
