Dear CoHSL colleagues,
I am looking forward to seeing you all at the MGSA symposium and will
schedule my transportation so that I'm able to attend the Library
Committee and hear Maria's panel.
Jacquie

Subject: [Cohsl-list] Reminder, correction, and updates
Dear CoHSL members,
The Modern Greek Studies Association Symposium is about a month away-we
hope that you are planning to
attend what should be a very interesting event.
http://www.yale.edu/macmillan/hsp/MGSA20.html.
Reminder: the MGSA Library Committee--which includes all CoHSL members
who are MGSA members--will
meet on Friday morning, from 9:00-12:00 in classroom 38 of the Beinecke
Library. The focus of the meeting
will be the Modern Greek Resources Project, but please let us know if
there are other topics you would
like to discuss. Although our meeting is not listed in the preliminary
program as it appears on the web site,
we have been assured that is will appear in the final program.
One correction from my message to the list on August 10th-- Maria
Georgopoulou's panel is scheduled for
lunch time on Saturday, not Friday as originally announced. This will
be an very interesting
presentation and discussion and I hope that you all can attend. Our
friends Michalis Tzekakis and Yannis Kosmas will
be presenting. Michalis and Yannis we look forward to seeing you!
Please send a quick message to the list if you are planning to attend,
so we can see
which institutions will be represented. To our Greek and British
colleagues, we hope you can come, but
understand that the distance might be too great. We would like to plan
to meet in 2008 on Greek soil--
(we threw out the possibility of Crete the last time) to continue our
discussions.
Other updates:
The Executive Committee is working on the goals, by-laws, etc. and will
have drafts for your review at the meeting.
The Gennadius Library publication New Griffon will publish the
presentations from our conference.
Shortly after my return from Athens last year I submitted a preliminary
report for publication in the 2006 MGSA Bulletin (no. 38).
The publication was sent out in late spring-and appears pages 48-52.
Please let me know if you would like an electronic copy.
(The Bulletin is unfortunately not available on line.) If anyone else
has published anything on the conference, written any reports about it,
please send them
to the list.
As is often the case, we lost some momentum after that energizing
meeting in Athens last December.
We tend to return to our institutions and get consumed with our daily
work lives and responsibilities
and the "big picture" type things get pushed aside for another day. I
hope that we can reignite that
spark at our upcoming meeting, and help to move the Modern Greek
Resources Project to the next level.
I hope that you are planning to join us next month--It will be great to
reconnect!
Warm regards to all,
Rhea
PS A note to Harry Leich-your message to the list back in August never
came through. It appeared with only "Th" and nothing else!
