I presently have found time to sort out the contents of old filing
cabinets and boxes and came across an unusual and overlooked document
that I think I bought years ago at a book sale at the U. of Toronto.
It appears to be the typescript of a 21page translation of Plato's Ion by
Allan D Bloom, with a statement that "No part of this text is to be cited
or circulated in any form whatsoever"
There is no information given as to the place or date of publication
but the seal of St.John's College, Annapolis - as used after 1969 - is
printed on the back of the green paper cover.

I deduce at this version might have been created for use in the "Great
Books" curriculum at the college. The footnotes do not assume any knowledge
at all of the ancient world, for example the first one explains where and
what Ephesus was. There are some faint scribbles on the margins of the
first 9 pages, but nothing afterwards. Did the student give up?
Does anyone know if he ever taught at the College?
If so when?
Thanks for any information to help solve this puzzle

PS: There is an entry in WorldCat - but no listing of a copy in any
library, anywhere.
