An informal talk with sailing legend Torben Grael
Torben Grael is one of
the most important Brazilian sailors, renowned in international
competitions. A
descendant of Danes, he was taken sailing by his grandfather at five
years old
on the sailboat Aileen, of the extinct 6 meter class. Once
he moved to Niterói, he started sailing
with his brother, Lars Grael, also an Olympic medal winner, on the Bay of Guanabara. Awards
include: Gold medal in Athens 2004; Bronze
medal in Sydney 2000; Gold medal in Atlanta
1996;
Silver medal in Los Angeles
1984 among others.
