Description: The PSTUM mailing list is designed to facilitate communication and collaboration among higher education faculty members, administrators, and students involved with the preparation, training, support, mentoring, supervision, and development of teachers of undergraduate mathematics, particularly those new to teaching such as graduate students and junior faculty. Some possible uses of the list include sharing ideas, techniques, reflections, successes, cautions, or news and seeking references or information. Background: I am a preceptor in the Department of Mathematics at Harvard University, and I recently attended sessions on graduate student teaching assistant training and supervision at two national mathematics conferences. Part of my duties as preceptor include training and mentoring graduate student teaching fellows. I found the dialog at these sessions with other people with similar responsibilities to be very useful. As many mathematics department members around the country are engaged in the preparation and support of teachers of undergraduate mathematics, particularly graduate students and junior faculty, a forum in which we could share ideas and experiences would be beneficial. I enjoy the community and shared resources I find on the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) mailing list, and I would like to build a similar community for those involved in training and mentoring graduate students and other teachers of undergraduate mathematics. To post a message to all the list members, send email to pstum-list@lists.fas.harvard.edu. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to PSTUM-list
Subscribe to PSTUM-list by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
