The Harvard College Writing Program and the Harvard College Library invite
you to two workshops on writing the research paper:

GETTING STARTED: Writing the Social Science Research Paper

Monday, March 29

4:00-5:00 pm

Lamont Forum Room, Lamont Library

Find out about essential and efficient strategies for starting out on a
research paper in the social sciences, including how to decode a paper
assignment, how to plan your stages of research and drafting, and how best
to use Harvard College Library's vast online resources to locate credible
sources.

EVALUATING AND USING YOUR SOURCES

Thursday, April 8

4:00-5:00 pm

Lamont Forum Room, Lamont Library

Learn about how to evaluate sources once you've gathered them for a research
paper, and how to integrate source material into your own paper without
accidentally plagiarizing. You'll hear tips on how to assess which sources
are most relevant to your paper, how to determine the role each source may
play in your argument, and how to summarize, paraphrase, and quote
effectively.

Please register for either or both workshops by sending an e-mail to
expos at fas.harvard.edu. Include in the body of your e-mail your first and
last name and which workshop you wish to attend (name and date of workshop),
and you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Spaces are limited, so do
register soon.
