HLcat-List -- the Mailing List for Catalogers of the Harvard Libraries

About HLcat-List
English (USA)

The goal of the HLcat-List is to foster communication and information exchange between catalogers of the Harvard Library system. It also functions as an official conduit for disseminating cataloging policy, whether local or national. The HLcat-List is a forum where catalogers can discuss cataloging-related topics (e.g. evolving metadata standards, RDA, etc.). It is also a place where one may seek advice from colleagues when encountering specific cataloging problems (e.g. when to create a new record; how to treat a particular format; how to apply a particular Rule Interpretation/RDA Policy Statement, etc.). Whatever concerns, vexes, or interests us as catalogers is fair game.

The HLcat-List is open to all who profess an interest in cataloging/metadata; you do not have to be a “professional cataloger” to join; all are welcome.

This is an unmoderated list. Please subscribe using your Harvard e-mail address. Non-Harvard addresses will be rejected.

To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the HLcat-List Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
