Attend the OCLC Research Survey of Archives and Special Collections Webinar
on Thursday, 28 October at 2 p.m. EDT (11:00 a.m. PDT) 18:00)
Attend this webinar to learn about major outcomes of the forthcoming report,
Taking Our Pulse: The OCLC Research Survey of Special Collections and
Archives in Academic and Research Libraries. Program Officer Jackie Dooley
will provide an overview of the project, in which 275 institutions across
the U.S. and Canada were surveyed to determine norms across the community
and to provide data to support decision-making and priority setting. A few
key data points to whet your appetite: far too many rare and unique
materials remain ³hidden²; the size of collections is growing at an
incredible pace; most institutions report increased numbers of onsite users;
staffing generally remains stable; and digitization and born-digital
archival records emerged as two of the three most challenging issues.
This 60-minute session will include ample time for an open discussion about
the implications of the survey results for the special collections and
archives community, including the recommended action items included in the
report, which will be published tomorrow (URL forthcoming).
Webinar participation is free and open to all. Advance registration is
required.
