Okay, so I found the VNC viewer they used to make the help page, but whe I try
to open up my VNC window, I get "permission denied" I've used the
terminal
window to enter ssh -L 5906:localhost:5906 olau(a)course1.hmdc.harvard.edu and
entered my password. Huhhh???
Thanks,
Olivia.

Actually, I already figured it out. Thanks though!
For those who want to know... download a version of VNC viewer for OS X...
the best way to go is to use your Terminal Utility... which just opens up
a Unix port I guess... when it opens, the prompt is "Welcome to Darwin"
etc... at the prompt, type
"ssh -L 59<your session number>:localhost:59<your session number again>
<your user name> @course1.hmdc.harvard.edu" all in one line, no quotes...
so my login would look like:
ssh -L 5908:localhost:5908 tnagano(a)course1.hmdc.harvard.edu
then type your password for the course server
that's it... that's your tunnel... now open up VNC.
