hmm... I don't think it's a problem with R. I can run latex, but I cannot
start
new sessions for any of the following: xemacs, emacs, xdvi, or gv (transcript
below). The sessions that I had open before this problem started run fine
except for the same graphics problem Mark mentions. Can everyone else open new
xemacs windows?

with the new version of R tghat was just installed. maybe there is
something about the graphics that was left unconnected opr changed or
