To Harvard Football Alums,
Many of you are aware that Boston University dropped football several years
ago. Since the day it was dropped, there has been a group of former BU
football players, some of whom you may have played against, who have worked
to keep alive the idea of bringing football back to BU. In a continuing
effort, some friends of mine have asked me to participate in a flag
football game on Saturday, October 4th @ 10:00 am at the new Nickerson
Field. The field has the new "Field Turf." This may be important given the
relative age and condition of many of us, myself included!!!
They want to draw attention to the issue before they talk to the BU brass.
A BU/Harvard "fun football event" can help them accomplish this. The effort
should attract media interest since several prominent BU alums, including
Mike Barnacle, will be playing in the game, thus drawing significant
attention to the issue on the part of the new Boston University President
and others at BU involved in the decision.
To that end I have offered to participate, and would like to invite you to
participate in this worthwhile cause for our BU brothers and former and
future BU football players. The rules are simple...there are no rules
except to have fun...and whoever finishes with the most points will be
judged to have cheated and will lose by default!! The winning team buys the
libations. The BU Athletic Department will provide free food after the
game. Email me or call me in Winchester at (781) 729-4058 or (508) 360-5619
(cell).
The game of football has been good to many of us...so let's do what we can
to assist more young men to enjoy the same opportunities by helping to
revive the long and proud tradition of Boston University football.
Best wishes,
Bobby Leo '67

Also, an important note from the Harvard Athletic Department about season
tickets ...
Dear Friend of Harvard Football:
Thank you for your generous support of the Harvard Football program. Your
commitment and support is very much appreciated.
While we rely on the financial generosity of the Friends of Harvard
Football, we are in need of another kind of support -- the support that
only fans in the Stadium can provide. If you are not already a season
ticket holder for Harvard Football, we would like to ask you to consider
becoming one today. The team depends on the game-day energy and support
that season ticket holders provide from the stands. Even if you are not
able to attend all six home games, by offering unused tickets to a friend
or colleague you are helping support the Crimson in their game-day efforts
and exposing more people to the fun and excitement of the Crimson.
Season tickets are $75 this year for the general public and only $24 for
children who are in 8th grade or younger. Please consider becoming a season
ticket holder today, it is one of the most important ways that you can
support Harvard Football.
You can place your order through the Harvard Ticket Office at
1-877-GO-HARVARD (1-877-464-2782), or online at www.gocrimson.com.
Thanks as always for your continued support of Harvard Football -- see you
at The Stadium!
