Dolphins Make Practice Squad Transaction
December 10, 2003
The Miami Dolphins today released center Ben Claxton off the practice squad
and signed wide receiver Carl Morris to take his spot.
Morris, 22, went to camp with Indianapolis this year as an undrafted
college free agent before being waived on August 12. He was claimed by
Philadelphia and then released by the Eagles on August 25.
The 6-3, 213-pound Morris finished his four-year career at Harvard as the
school's all-time leading receiver with 245 catches for 3,488 yards and 28
touchdowns. He owns the three-highest single-season reception and receiving
yardage totals in school history, including his senior year of 2002 when he
accounted for career-high numbers of 90 receptions, 1,288 yards and eight
touchdowns. He was both a first-team All-Ivy League selection and the Ivy
League Offensive Player of the Year in each of his final two years. Morris
attended Episcopal High School in Sterling, Virginia. He was born on March
3, 1981.
