NCAA Championships
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Junior Geoff Rathgeber, who earned All-America
accolades Thursday, added a second top-20 national finish to his ledger
Friday as he took 20th place in the 400-yard individual medley at the
NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of
Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Rathgeber swam Friday's preliminary race in 3:50.38, leaving him four
spots out of the evening's finals. Michigan junior Alex Vanderkaay was
the event winner in 3:40.89.
Rathgeber completes his trifecta at the NCAA championships Saturday when
he competes in the 200 backstroke. He heads into that event as the No. 9
seed from the season's qualifying.
