HLS Movie Night
The Hidden Star of Brazil - "A Estrela Oculta do Sertao"
Thursday, March 1 @ 7pm
Pound Building Room 200
This documentary chronicles Brazil's Jewish past and the fascinating
tale of Brazil's "New Christian" population, descendants of Jews
originally forced to convert to Christianity during the Portuguese
Inquisition, who despite officially practicing other religions still
maintain Jewish customs and traditions. Following the movie will be a
discussion led by Sergio Suchodolski, a Brazilian LLM, about the movie
and Brazil's Jewish population. Come watch the movie and enjoy free
kosher pizza for dinner.
