The screening to be followed by commentary and discussion with:
Luiz Eduardo Soares, Visiting Scholar, Program in Criminal Justice
Policy and Management, Kennedy School of Government.
Bus 174, one of the New York Times’ ten best films of 2003, recounts the
events, causes and effects of a nationally televised hijacking. Soares
provides the primary commentary in the film about the conditions that
produced one of the most notorious crimes in modern Brazilian history.
Sponsored by the Brazil Studies Program at the David Rockefeller Center
for Latin American Studies, and the Program in Criminal Justice Policy
and Management, Kennedy School of Government.
Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
