Harvard University Brazil Studies Program at the DRCLAS and Harvard GSAS Brazilian Organization presents Origins of Bolsa Escola and Bolsa Familia Special Event with Senator Cristovam Buarque Senator Buarque holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Sorbonne. He worked at the inter-American Bank of development and is the former President of the University of Brasília, former governor of Brasília and the former Minister of Education. Currently he is a senator at the Brazilian National Congress, professor at the University of Brasília and a member of the Unesco Education Institute. Senator Buarque is the author of several books including The End of Economics, The Gold Curtain, and Abolishing poverty.
