CHOROS COM CHOCOLATE
At the heart of Choro music live the forms and harmonies of classical
European dance and chamber music, taken to the streets and the beach to
run barefoot. To this popular 20th-century Brazilian tradition, Choros
com Chocolate brings an extra measure of urban grit and a fresh
instrumentation. The band members are distinguished by their
versatility; each is proficient in classical music, jazz, and music of
various parts of the world. Catherine Bent, cello; Jared Sims, alto sax
and flute; Jason Davis, 7-string guitar; and Brian O'Neill, percussion,
playing the music of Pixinguinha, Jacobo do Bandolim, Hermeto Pascoal,
and others, as well as band originals.
