The Latin American and Latino Art Forum at The David Rockefeller Center
for Latin American Studies, Harvard University
Invites you to its upcoming speaker series event
ANA MARIA TAVARES
Artist on their art
November 20, 6pm: CGIS Building, 1730 Cambridge Street. Room: S-153
Renowned for her site-specific installations in which the blending of
written word and architectural elements are used for the critical
interrogation of public spaces, Ana Maria Tavares will discuss her
latest projects with fellow Brazilian and DRCLAS Visiting Scholar Dr.
Claudia Calirman.
In collaboration with the MIT Office for the Arts
Programmed by the Art Forum’s Curator and divided into two thematic
sub-series, Art Lab and Artists on their Art, the talks last usually one
and a half hours, are conducted in English (unless noticed otherwise)
and follow the same format: an invited main speaker and a panel of
commentators—usually composed by members of the Harvard or the Greater
Boston community.
Co-sponsored with the Cultural Agents Initiative, the Art Lab series are
opportunities for artists and academics to gather and explore together
the relevance of the slippery but productive relationship between arts
and society which has shaped decisively, much of the artistic practice
in Latin America since its formation. While our Artists on their Art
series are opportunities for contemporary artists to present their work
and engage in a critical analysis and discussion of its relevance in an
academic forum.
All talks are recorded and later available on our website as podcasts.
