*Documentary on Brazilian Music*
The Institute of Contemporary Art of Boston (ICA) and the Consulate General
of Brazil in Boston present the New England premiere of the film *Beyond
Ipanema*.
Brazilian music – bossa nova, samba, funk, and many other genres – has
captivated audiences worldwide for decades. What makes Brazilian music such
a powerful cultural force? This fast-paced documentary features interviews
with famous Brazilian artists – including Carmen Miranda, Caetano Veloso,
Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé, and Seu Jorge – as well as clips of their
performances. The film also shows many non-Brazilian artists who share
their passion for Brazilian music and discuss its great international
prestige and influence.
Co-directors *Guto Barra and Béco Dranoff* will be present to introduce the
film.
