Hi All,
I'm very excited for the Applied Stats workshop this semester! We'll be kicking
things off on Wednesday, September 4th at noon in CGIS
K354<http://map.harvard.edu/?bld=04471&level=9>evel=9>. As per usual, lunch will be
served.
At this first meeting we'll be hearing from Scott Linderman from SEAS. Scott will be
speaking on discovering latent network structure from spiking data using Hawkes processes.
Examples of this include: recovering neural connectivity from electrophysiological
recordings; discovering interactions between stocks on the S&P 100; and identifying
patterns in homicide data from Chicago. Check out Scott's work at
http://people.seas.harvard.edu/~slinderman/<http://people.seas.harvard.e…n/>.
You can also check out the rest of our fall line-up at
http://projects.iq.harvard.edu/applied_stats/2013-fall-0. There are still a few spots open
(including the second meeting on September 11th) if anyone wants to present.
I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!
