Join us for an outing to the Handel and Haydn Society’s concert featuring
Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, regarded by many as the finest compositions of
the baroque era. In addition to Concertos 3and 4, a special highlight of
the program is Telemann’s Viola Concerto with soloist David Miller. Tickets
are $28, available to Dudley House members and their guests now at the
Dudley office. We will meet on the Dudley steps at 7pm to take the bus over

I wanted to remind you of the semester's upcoming film events, which kick off
tonight at 7pm with a screening of Iron Man, followed by Iron Man 2 (@ 9:15pm)
in Dudley House's Graduate Student Lounge. Next week, we will be showing the
Swedish original of Stieg Larsson's hit The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at 7pm
on TUESDAY, JANUARY 18th (not Thursday, January 20th, as was previously
advertised) in the GSL.

Dudley Double Feature: Iron Man/Iron Man 2, Graduate Student Lounge
Iron Man: After escaping from kidnappers using makeshift power armor, an
ultra-rich inventor and weapons maker (Robert Downey Jr.) turns his creation
into a force for good by using it to fight crime. But his skills are stretched
to the limit when he must face the evil Iron Monger. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff
Bridges and Terrence Howard also star in director Jon Favreau's tongue-in-cheek

Iron Man 2: Wealthy inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) resists calls by the
American government to hand over his technology. Meanwhile, Ivan Vanko (Mickey
Rourke) has constructed his own miniaturized arc reactor, causing all kinds of
problems for the superhero. Sam Rockwell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson,
Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson co-star in director Jon Favreau's sequel

disappearance of wealthy Henrik Vanger's (Sven-Bertil Taube) teen niece (Ewa
Fröling), only to uncover dark secrets about Vanger's powerful family. Niels
Arden Oplev directs this Swedish thriller based on the first novel from Stieg

*Dudley Arts Events for January 2011*
*Tango Lessons*
*Thursdays evenings 8-10 pm at Northwest Labs. * Dudley House is excited to
be offering a series of tango lessons this winter semester led by fellow
member Tom Wisniewski starting in February. Lessons will last one hour,
followed by an optional, open practica. All levels of experience will be
welcome, no partner necessary. Come shake off those winter chills with your
adornos, arrastres, boleos, caminitas, and giro. The cost is $40 for an
eight-week series, signs-ups beginning January, 24th. Please bring payment

*Swing Dance Lessons,** **Advanced Beginner*
Dudley House is excited to be continuing its popular swing dance lessons in
the spring. Lessons will be held Wednesdays evenings from 7:30-9:00 at
Holden Chapel. The cost is $20 for a series of six lessons. Please bring the
payment to 3rd Floor Dudley House between January 24rd and January 31st to

*Dance Workshop Sign-ups*
Sign-ups begin this week for a dance workshop in movement and contact
improvisation led by Harvard dance instructor Jessica Berson. Elementary
exercises and techniques will introduce participants to a range of different
movement styles and idioms and explore the expressive possibilities of the
body. No previous dance experience necessary, open to Dudley members and
their guests. The cost is $10. Space limited. To reserve your spot, please

*Acrylics Art Class*
The six-week Dudley arts class on acrylics will continue to meet on
Saturdays, 2-4:30pm, in the Dudley House Private Dining Room, through March
5th. The class is now full, but please contact Ivanna Yi (

“Drawing in the Sackler Galleries,” at the same time on Saturdays from March
26-April 23. $30 plus the cost of materials.

If you missed the tour of the Institute for Contemporary Art in December,
join us for a trip to view the Foster Prize award show featuring Boston
artists. From large-scale photographs of the Peruvian Amazon to experimental
film to installations inspired by 17th-century frescoes, the artists
selected for the 2010 Foster Prize offer a wide-ranging view of the art
being created in the Boston area today. Free with Harvard ID; open to all.
