Dear Friends of the Arts,
There are a handful of spots left in the watercolor and charcoal drawing
workshops later this week! All levels of experience are welcome. Each class
will include instruction time followed by open painting and drawing (and
wine will be served).
*Dudley House Art Workshop: "Line, Color, and Space: Experiencing Color
Through the Five Senses" Thursday, April 10, 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Private Dining
RoomInstructor: Diane Szczepaniak*
Back by popular demand: the Color Workshop! In this watercolor class, we
will consider different meanings of color and the way it interacts with our
senses. Through technical and imaginative exercises, students will explore
how color symbolism and association are built up and broken down. By the
end of the class, everyone will have created paintings--either figurative or
abstract--that reflect personal and formal or compositional uses of color.
The class is intended to introduce non-traditional and synesthetic ways of
thinking about color, and to invite participants to notice how they think
with and through color not only in painting but in any art form, and even
in their daily lives.
This class is for artists at all stages, from experienced painters to those
who have never held a brush. It can be taken as a continuation of last
semester's color workshop or on its own.
Cost of the workshop will be $10 (materials included). To register, please
bring the cost of the class to Jeff Chenette's office on the third floor of
Dudley House.
*Dudley House Art Workshop: "Drawing Space"Friday, April 11, 7:00 - 8:30
pm, Private Dining RoomInstructor: Diane Szczepaniak*
This workshop offers an introduction to drawing with charcoal. We will draw
in three-dimensional space while considering how the meeting of light and
dark creates form. Through a series of technical and imaginative exercises,
students will learn the nuances of drawing a line and its interaction with
surrounding space on the page and the physical world at large. By the end
of class, students will have drawn a jumble of chairs grounded in space,
created a Notan design from black and white paper, and become aware of how
touch is significant to drawing.
To register, please bring $5 to Jeff Chenette on the third floor of Dudley
House (materials included).
Dear Arts Enthusiasts:
See below for information on two workshops on Thursday and Friday of next
week. They can be taken separately or together. Each will include
instruction time followed by open painting and drawing.
