Hello dear Dudley Arts Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the Dudley House Arts mailing list!
We have a few announcements:
1) Book of Mormon tickets go on sale Tuesday. This is a mega-hit Broadway
musical (winner of 9 Tony Awards, including best musical). Tickets are
discounted at $48 (not cheap but general public price is $58 + fees). Each
Dudley House member can get up to 2. They'll be available in the Dudely
House office (3rd floor, Lehman Hall) during regular business hours
(9am-5pm). Please bring cash or check (made out to "Harvard University) and
Harvard ID. If you work at HMS, you can reserve tickets over the phone
(617-495-2255), but you or someone on your behalf will have to bring money
and pick up them up at least a few days before the show, which is Sep 24th,
7:30pm at the Colonial Theater in Boston.
2) Swing dance classes taught by Andy Greenspon & Gabrielle Blonder are
starting Sep 21st. Andy & Gabrielle taught popular swing classes last year.
These will cover the basics of lindy hop in 4 weeks, 7-8pm Mondays Sep 21 -
Oct 12, and be followed by more advanced lessons later in the year -- so
get started learning! Cost is $20 for the whole series if you pre-register
at Dudley House, $25 if you register at the first class, and $7/class for
drop-ins. The lessons will be in the basement of Richards Hall. Only
residents have card access to the building, so if you plan on coming,
please get in touch with me (reply to this address) to make sure someone
will let you in to the building. Any Harvard affiliate + guest is welcome.
Also, if you wish to join the Harvard swing dance community, check out the
Facebook group "Harvard Swing and Lindy Hop."
3) Salsa dance classes taught by Tessa Montague & Franklin Condori are
starting Sep 29th. Tessa & Franklin taught fun & excellent classes last
year. These will go for six weeks, with beginner level 7:30-8:30pm and
advanced/intermediate 8:45-9:45pm every Tuesday Sep 29 - Nov 13rd in
Northwest Labs Cafe (52 Oxford St, same location as last year). Cost is $50
for each series (beginner or intermediate) if you pre-register at Dudley
House or $10/class for drop-ins. All Harvard affiliates & guests are
welcome. Last year lots of folks showed up for the first time late in the
series (word got around the classes were great ;~) but not this year! You
have to attend at least one of the first two lessons to continue the
series. At the end, we'll have an outing to Havana Club in Central Square
to introduce you to the vibrant local salsa scene. Also, join the Facebook
group "Harvard Salsa Club."
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend & thanks for signing up for Dudley House Arts!

PS
There are three arts fellows this year: Tal Grebel, Oliver Marjot, and
myself (Genya Frenkel). All of us will make announcements to this list, and
we look forward to organizing fun events for you. If there's an event you
want, let us know and we'll try to make it happen!
