Dear Dudley Arts,
There will be a change to the watercolor class schedule due to a
conflict that has come up with our instructor's schedule. One of the
sessions in March (March 30) will be canceled, and instead replaced by
an additional meeting in April. Thus, the final dates of the class will
be the following Saturdays:
March 9
March 13
April 6
April 13
April 20 (new class date!)
We will still meet from 10:30 am - 1 pm on all days.
Sign-ups are ongoing! A few spots still remain in this class.
Best,
Tina

Dudley House members may bring along guests.
Dear Arts enthusiasts,

“Jean-Claude is fifty-one and weary. Since his divorce, he has been
leading a lonely, cheerless life. His job does not help him. Indeed,
as a "huissier de justice," his everyday task consists in bringing
despair into the homes of those who can't pay their rent, announcing
eviction and/or property seizure. His depressing Sunday afternoons are
invariably spent in the retirement home of his old father, a sour,
never-satisfied pain in the neck. A glimmer of hope comes from the
dance studio across his office. One day, Jean-Claude decides to
enroll; there, he meets the charming Françoise. The only trouble is
that she’s about to get married.” –imdb.com
Dear all,
One of the dates for the watercolor class, March 23, was listed incorrectly
in the last two e-mails. There will be no class on the 23rd because of
Spring Recess; this class will instead be moved to the following Saturday,
March 30.
The correct dates for this class are March 9, March 16, March 30, April 6,
and April 13. Full details are below.

Tina Liu

Dear Dudley Arts Enthusiasts,
Join us for one (or both) of the following art workshops and classes we're
offering this term at Dudley House:
*Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Workshop*
Saturday, March 2, 2:30 – 4:30 pm
Dudley House Common Room
Instructor: Wen-hao Tien
In addition to their meaning, Chinese characters possess aesthetic
qualities and appeal to the psyche. As such, Chinese calligraphy and
painting materials are often a source of inspiration to artists in both the
East and West. In this workshop, we will review traditional and
contemporary Chinese calligraphy and practice these energetic strokes. It
is said that Chinese calligraphy is a "performing art". We will experience
this unique quality by trying out various calligraphy styles. We will also
practice selected subjects in traditional Chinese painting as it is
branched out from the same principle. No painting experience or
understanding of Chinese is required.
Registration: $12 due by Feb 28 at the Dudley House Office (3rd floor,
Lehman Hall). All materials are included in the fee. Class size is limited
to 15.
