Dear Arts enthusiasts,
Two quick reminders about upcoming Arts events at Dudley:
1. *Tickets* to the excellent A.R.T. production of *The Glass Menagerie*,
an American classic by Tennessee Williams, will go on sale beginning at 9am
*tomorrow, Monday*, in the Dudley House Office on the third floor. We have
a special group rate at $15.00, and this Feb. 16th Saturday matinee (2pm)
includes a post-show discussion. There are only ten tickets, so they will
go fast; if interested, be sure to pick yours up ASAP tomorrow morning or
afternoon. For those unfamiliar with the A.R.T., this is a wonderful
opportunity to acquaint yourselves with a fabulous theater right in Harvard
Square.
*2. Arts Film Screening: *Join us on a cold February evening for a charming
2005 French film by Stéphane Brizé. Delicious refreshments will be served.
Please *RSVP to dudleyhouse.arts(a)gmail.com* if you plan on attending so
that we have an idea of how much food and drink to buy.

“Jean-Claude is fifty-one and weary. Since his divorce, he has been leading
a lonely, cheerless life. His job does not help him. Indeed, as a "huissier
de justice," his everyday task consists in bringing despair into the homes
of those who can't pay their rent, announcing eviction and/or property
seizure. His depressing Sunday afternoons are invariably spent in the
retirement home of his old father, a sour, never-satisfied pain in the
neck. A glimmer of hope comes from the dance studio across his office. One
day, Jean-Claude decides to enroll; there, he meets the charming Françoise.
The only trouble is that she’s about to get married.” –imdb.com
*The Glass Menagerie*:
"While Amanda Wingfield desperately struggles to provide her fragile
daughter with at least one “gentleman caller,” her son, Tom, dreams of
escaping from his job at a warehouse and his oppressive life at home. An
exquisite family drama filtered through Tom’s memory, The Glass Menagerie
is staged by John Tiffany, the acclaimed director of the international
sensation, Black Watch, and the Broadway musical, Once."
