Description and bio:
"The Kick Butt Body Conditioning Workshop"
Similar muscle groups are used for multiple partner dances. The more
control you have over them, the better you can dance. This 2-hour
workshop explores 17 easy-to-do exercises culled from Pilates,
Gyrotonics/Gyrokinesis, Yoga, Aerobics, Callanetics, and classical
dance that strengthen the muscle groups most important for dances such
as tango, swing, salsa, and zouk. It is also a great class for people
who simply want to vary their workout. No special equipment is
required and all exercises are easy on the knees and lower back. Wear
comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. To get the most out of
the workshop, please bring a tennis ball, a towel, a bottle of water,
a pencil, and a notebook.
Bio: Due to an injury as a child, Paula Wilson did not begin dancing
until she was 19. Two years later, she was accepted to a conservatory
program in New York. After completing the course, she danced
professionally for various stage, television, and music video
projects. She also fell in love with tango, swing, and zouk, and
began to form her own conditioning series in order to remain injury
free. She combined her experience as a trained dancer, her
understanding of adult beginner dancers, and her training in
rehabilitative movement, and traditional conditioning practices, into
the "Kick Butt Body Conditioning Workshop". She has taught all over
the world, including South Korea, Argentina, and the US, and loves
sharing her knowledge with other partner dancers.
See the Dudley Arts website for more info.
Best wishes,
Thomas
