*Dudley Arts Events for November 2011*
*“Anonymous” by When Notes Fly at Voltage Coffee and Art*
Friday, November 4th, 7-9pm, Voltage Arts and Coffee, 295 3rd St. Kendall
Square, Cambridge
Join us for an outing to a collaborative performance by Boston Ballet
dancers and musicians from the New England Conservatory at Voltage Art and
Coffee in Kendall Square. This interdisciplinary concert on November 4th
will feature an architectural installation that will interact with the
dance and music performance. Reduced student tickets are only $7 and can be
purchased now at the Dudley House office. Seats are limited but all are
welcome. We will meet at 6:30pm sharp on the Dudley House steps. Contact

*Dudley Arts Chamber Music Initiative*
Join us on Saturday, Nov. 5th, at 4pm for the first concert in the Dudley
Arts chamber music series! The concert will be held at the Lily Pad gallery
in Inman Square, and the program will feature musicians from Harvard, the
New England Conservatory, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Reception to
follow. If you are interested in performing on future concerts in this
series, send names of musicians, instruments, and repertoire to Thomas

*November Social with Thanksgiving Card Making*
Thursday, November 3, 5-7pm, Joseph B. Martin Student Lounge, Vanderbilt
Hall, Longwood
Join BGSO, Dudley, and HGWISE for hot cider, hard cider, pie and card
making. RSVP not required.
*Outing to The Orpheus Singers Concert*
Saturday, November 12, 8pm, Emmanuel Church, 15 Newbury Street, Boston
Join us for an outing to hear The Orpheus Singers accompanied by a string
orchestra. The Singers will present two works by Jean-Baptiste Lully, *De
Profundis* and *Dies Irae*, and one by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, *Le
Reniement de Saint-Pierre* (The Denial of Saint Peter). These
concerto-like pieces from the time of Louis XIV present exciting stylistic
challenges for singers, especially in working with Latin in a 17th century
musical style. $15 student tickets will be available at the door. We will

*A Day in Pompeii: Museum of Science Outing*
Tuesday, November 15, 4pm, Museum of Science
“Get a glimpse of daily life in Pompeii, one of Imperial Rome's most
cosmopolitan cities. Hundreds of artifacts bring to light the vibrancy of
this bustling resort town, but the darkening skies ahead and violent sounds
of Vesuvius spewing ash and debris signal imminent danger.” Discount

pleasure! An introduction to the extraordinary life and work of Danish
writer Karen Blixen (nom de plume, Isak Dinesen); a screening of the
Academy Award-winning 1987 Danish film, *Babettes gæstebud;* and a tasting
of special French treats. What better way to stave off the November chill?

*Tango Argentino @ Dudley*
Thursday, Sept. 15th-November 17th, 8-11pm
*Northwest Labs Cafe*

The ten-week series of beginner and advanced beginner Argentine tango
lessons are well underway and will continue every Thursday evening until
November 17 from 8-9:15pm and 9:15-10:15pm in the cafe of the Northwest
Labs. A guided practica, free and open to all, is held between lessons from
9-9:15pm and, following the second class, from 10:15-11pm. Class size is
limited; registration is now closed. If you missed the registration
deadline, contact Thomas Wisniewski (twisniew(a)fas.harvard.edu) to be placed
on the waiting list for the next series of lessons, which will take place
in the spring semester.

*Dudley Drawing Class*
Saturdays, 2-4:30pm, November 5th-December 3rd, Private Dining Room
The second session of the Dudley arts class will meet on Saturdays, 2-4pm
in the Dudley Private Dining Room from November 5th-December 3rd. The
five-week session will focus on drawing and painting, including figure
drawing. The course is sold out, but contact Ivanna Yi (iyi(a)fas.harvard.edu)
be placed on a waiting list for the following 10-week session in the spring.
