CYCLE Kids, Inc.
Somerville After School Program
Teachers and Volunteers Needed
March 27 - June 9, 2006
Program Description
CYCLE Kids is a not for profit organization dedicated to helping
children understand the importance of fitness and healthy lifestyles.
Our program addresses the issues underlying the increasing obesity and
over weight conditions of children, as well as the rise in childhood
diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses children are facing today
due to their physical condition.
Using the bicycle, CYCLE Kids introduces children to the importance
and fun of exercise, introduces healthy eating habits, connects
everyday notions on cycling mechanics, work, and nutrition to the
underlying science through hands-on activities, and encourages
environmental awareness. Our underlying premise is that a healthy
lifestyle encompasses the emotional, intellectual, and physical
aspects of one's life. Our curriculum has been developed to address
all three of these areas.
More information about CYCLE Kids and the program can be found at
