Hi everyone,
We still have several shifts at the end of the Thanksgiving holiday that
need volunteer support. If you are interested in helping out, please sign
up here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApIEyYujHlt-dHBndlNnUjl3YTMtam…
*Saturday overnight, 11/24: 11p - 9a*
You'll hang out with other volunteers and night-owl guests, basically
having more good conversations, watching movies, doing laundry, reading,
baking cookies, etc! This is a fantastic shift because it's a rare
opportunity to have long conversations and get to know people well.
Overnight volunteers often say it's the best shift! And never fear, we do
take turns sleeping -- the night is typically divided into three sub-shifts
and you will be asleep for two of them (there is a staff room with bunk
beds, so you will be able to sleep 5-6 hours when it is not your turn to be
awake).
*Sunday overnight, 11/25: 11p - 9a*

Come in bright and early to greet our guests as they begin to wake up!
You'll be making breakfast and helping to clean the shelter (an invaluable
service!) after the guests leave.
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
Below are reminders of upcoming events and deadlines. Have a wonderful
Thanksgiving!

Each year, the COOP generously funds students to conduct public service
projects in the greater Boston/Cambridge community. Do you have an idea for
a public service project? If so, please consider applying. Previous
recipients of COOP grants have served our community in many ways, from
performing science outreach in schools to providing seminars during Black
History month. More information is posted in the link on the side of this
page. Applications will be due on Mon. Nov. 26 at midnight, and an
information session will be held on Thurs. Oct. 25 from 6-7 pm in the
Graduate Student Lounge. Please contact dudleypublicservice(a)gmail.com with
questions.
*Holiday Toy Drive -- donation deadline coming up! * *With Black Friday in
a few days, consider getting toys to donate!*
Toys due to Dudley House 3rd floor offices by *Mon. Dec. 3*.
Would you like to give to those in need in our community this holiday
season? Dudley Public Service is collecting toys for ABCD (Action for
Boston Community Development). Please bring unwrapped gifts for kids ages
0-16 to the third floor Dudley offices by 5 pm on Monday, December 3rd.
Gift cards (especially for Target) are also welcome. For the sake of
consistency, we suggest that each toy or gift card be less than $20. For a

dudleypublicservice(a)gmail.com with questions.
------------------- SPSC November Food Drive and 3rd Annual Hunger Banquet
-------------------
Greetings All,
As Thanksgiving nears and many enjoy the tradition of expressing
gratitude, the Student Public Service Collaborative (SPSC) cordially
invites you to participate in the SPSC November Food Drive and attend the
3rd Annual Hunger Banquet.
SPSC is organizing a non-perishable food drive through the end of the
month in preparation for the Hunger Banquet. To participate, bring
non-expired/non-damaged food items (canned soup, pasta, etc.) to receptacle
boxes on the Ground Floor of Belfer and in the Study (2nd Floor of Taubman)
We hope you can join SPSC and our co-sponsors from the Human Rights PIC
on Tuesday, November 27th at 5:30 in Bell Hall (top floor of Belfer) for
the Hunger Banquet. The event is intended to raise awareness of the crises
of global hunger and poverty. As a community, we will explore the causes of
world hunger and learn how to make a difference through experiencing an
interactive meal that powerfully depicts global inequality.
We are asking for a donation of $3 dollars or 2 non-perishable food items
for admission. All food items will go to Great Boston Food Bank; all cash
donations will go to Oxfam Unwrapped. Please RSVP through Google and join
the event on Facebook. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Regards,
Colin
