Hey public service enthusiasts!
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holiday season, wherever you spent
it, and are ready to gear up for another great semester (including
withstanding sub-zero wind chills..!).
Next Saturday, we are leading another small-group volunteer outing, this
time to a super cool organization in the South End called *More Than Words,
*a *youth-run bookstore* that seeks to empower youth to *take charge of
their lives by taking charge of a business*. It's truly a fun place to
volunteer (check their Insta @mtwyouth if you're curious!). In their words:
*When system-involved youth are empowered with authentic and increasing
responsibilities in a business setting, and are given high expectations and
a culture of support, they can and will address personal barriers to
success, create concrete action plans, and become contributing members of
society who live, love and own their futures.*
The deets:
*Saturday, February 2*
10:30am-2pm (including travel to/from)
242 East Berkeley St, Boston MA (Red Line Broadway stop)
We'll leave Dudley House at *10:30am* to volunteer at the bookstore's South
End location from *11am-1:30pm.* We'll even start off with a tour of the
bookstore by one of the youths alongside whom we'll be working our shift.
And, we'll get a chance to shop around the bookstore for great sales on
used books and local goods (i.e. jewelry/food)-- all of the profits go
directly back to the youth staff!
Interested? Sign up here <https://bit.ly/2AWuYCA> to volunteer!
Cheers,
Sarah & Danielle
