Hi Everyone,
My name is Kezi Cheng, I am currently the Dudley Fellow for Public Service.
A lot of you have expressed interest in public service events through
Dudley House, and I wanted to share with you an exciting opportunity to get
more involved. We are looking to bring on a GSAS student as the *Assistant
Dudley Fellow for Public Service*, with the position lasting from the end
of October 2017 to July 2018. This role offers the opportunity to organize
and implement public service events in areas of public health, education,
elderly care, gender equality, shelter volunteering, prisoners’ rights and
criminal justice by connecting with organizations within the Harvard and
Boston/Cambridge communities. We are looking for individuals who are
passionate, creative, and excited to take on this role. In addition to the
responsibilities of an Assistant Fellow (see below), there are also many
great perks of being a Dudley Fellow such as free meals at Dudley, free
coffee at the Gato, a small stipend for the year, an awesome office
overlooking Harvard Square, and being able to immerse yourself within the
great Dudley community.
This is my first year as a Dudley Fellow, and I truly enjoy it. My hope for
taking on this role is to connect students to the causes that they are
truly passionate about. This position allows me to do that and I hope it
will do the same for you if you choose to apply.
To apply to this position, please send an email before *October 20th* to
dudleypublicservice(a)gmail.com with a few sentences on:
1. Why you are interested in the assistant fellow public service position
2. An example of an event you would like to plan in the coming months
*Responsibilities of the individual Assistant Fellow include the following:*
- Time commitment of ~10 hours/week; there is no standard time
commitment but the primary rule is to do a good and thorough job on every
activity planned.
- Attend staff and programming meetings (typically bi-weekly).
- Participate in and support Dudley events.
- Work rotations: Assist other Fellows with setup and cleanup of their
events and in other areas in which they need help. Dudley Fellows work
together as a team for the good of the House and of its members.
- Keep financial and organizational records of events.
- Receive up to ten meals a week in the Dudley Café to encourage
presence and participation in the life of the House and are also eligible
for housing in the GSAS Residence Halls.
Please email me if you have any additional questions about the position.
Sincerely,
Kezi Cheng
